Born in 1985, his name is Tamasing Tenkon Haros and he is from the island of Ambrym. His stage name is Black G. He calls himself Black G because he had been living in a place in Port Vila called Black sands and there they used to have a small house where they would call it Black Ghetto. There they would get together as youths from the area and they would play music.
The name Black Ghetto came into being and became one of the most popular band after that to have existed in the music industry but later ceased to perform around the year 2010.
In his new single ‘Venez Venz Danse’ Black G hopes to give a new message in song which is song sang in French and English. The mains message in this song is happiness. Black G believes that if you have a problem the solution to it is to come and dance. Feeling bad causes sorrow inside a home.
Black G grew up in a family where music was a natural blessing. His dad and mum would take him to church on Sabbath. When he grew up he decided to leave church and sing for the people by using reggae music as his main influence. Reggae was a music that Black G believes is good to use to give out messages as it is one of the most dominant music that has become part of the Ni-Van culture blending here and there to become what today most people around Vanuatu listen to.
In the Riddim Album produced by Ezzenne Production which the song Venez Venez Danse is part of Black G thinks that Ezzenne production is one of the most unique producers in the music business. He sees Vanuatu reading another mile stone in this musical age as it is the first time they made a Riddim using this sound. People will hear different voices singing on the label and that is something that is unique in its own way.
Black G says Ezzenne Production formed out of Black Ghetto as they all were living in the same area at that time. Black G says that the music industry in Vanuatu had not created activities for musicians. The people working for the music industry do not have the capacity and desire to promote artists into different markets regionally and globally. It’s the artists themselves who are struggling to get themselves out there. The music industry should be the one helping potential artists to get out there and expand their career. Black G had been taking part in most of the live shows in Vanuatu such as Fest Napuan and La Fete de la Musique. Going online is something which Black G says he really looks forward to as this is something that they should have done a long time ago. He says that in Vanuatu alone music has been under the influence of a ‘black market’ economy where most of the music that is played worldwide are also played in Vanuatu without people outside knowing about the pirate business taking place in Vanuatu. But going online is a worldwide business and he really looks forward to get out there with the support of the enterprise supporting him in every step of the way. His final words is that the single he is trying to put out there is an inspiring song and people should listen to it and do as told so that their problems can be no more.
